About  MCHEIP

MCHEIP (Madison County Home Energy Improvement Program) is a grassroots organization whose goal is to increase energy efficiency of homes in Madison County. In particular, MCHEIP seeks to:
  • Provide education on home energy efficiency
  • Make low-income individuals more financially secure in the face of rising utility costs
  • Offer affordable financing for housing rehabilitation for low-income families
  • Create community partnerships to lower our homes energy needs
  • Reduce the amount of pollution and CO2 emitted by Madison County housing
  • Identify ways for the community to take responsibility for unavoidable CO2 emissions

Mission

The Madison County Home Energy Improvement Program (MCHEIP) works to build the capacity for all Madison County residents to lower their energy costs through housing rehabilitation, comprehensive energy audits, and affordable financing for low-income clients. To achieve this mission, the agency will:
  • Partner with nonprofits and government agencies
  • Encourage the use of  environmentally appropriate products and rehabilitation practices
  • Solicit input from, and ensure accountability to clients from all socio-economic levels
  • Serve as a regional model for energy efficiency programs in low-income housing.
